Wall Blanket from Autex GreenStuf®
Wall Blanket is designed for the thermal and acoustic insulation of strapped and lined walls in residential and commercial applications. GreenStuf® Masonry Wall Blanket will assist in meeting the energy efficiency and acoustic objectives of the Building Code. To ensure Building Code compliance Autex recommends that architects and building designers consult the relevant New Zealand standards before specifying thermal and acoustic insulation products.
Durability: GreenStuf® has a 50 Year Durability Warranty.
Moisture: GreenStuf® is not affected by moisture. Exposure to an atmosphere of 50°C at 90% relative humidity for four days showed moisture absorption by weight of less than 0.03%.
Thermal Performance: GreenStuf® Building Insulation Blankets declared thermal performance ratings have been laboratory tested to ASTM C 518-04. Increased thermal performance can be achieved with the use of reflective foils where a sufficient cavity space is provided. GreenStuf® Masonry Wall Blanket can be supplied with a reflective foil facing on request.
Hazardous Building Materials: GreenStuf® is non-hazardous.
Non-Flammable: GreenStuf® is classified as non-flammable.
Non-Corrosive: GreenStuf® polyester is pH7.8 (pH7 is neutral).
Non-Toxic, Non-Allergenic, Non-Irritant: There are no known hazards with the use or handling of GreenStuf® polyester.
Vermin: All GreenStuf® products are naturally resistant to vermin and insect attack.
Installation of GreenStuf Masonry Wall Blanket
We recommend that all thermal and acoustic insulation be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions (included in each GreenStuf® pack) AS 3999:1992 Thermal insulation of dwellings – Bulk Insulation, Installation Requirements. Autex GreenStuf® Masonry Wall Blanket is manufactured from 100% polyester fibres and will not wick moisture. As such, GreenStuf® can be installed directly against concrete/ masonry walls. Timber strapping should be isolated from concrete/masonry with DPC. Thermal bridging must be controlled in accordance with the NCC Volume One J1.5. and NCC Volume Two 126.96.36.199. A thermal break is needed when a metal framing member directly connects the external cladding to the internal lining or the internal environment. A material with an R-Value of not less than R0.2, installed between the external cladding and the metal frame is required.
Acoustic Performance: GreenStuf® Masonry Wall Blanket will assist sound reduction through walls by reducing the resonating noise inside the construction cavity. A commonly overlooked acoustic problem is the effect of lining masonry walls. The Rw can be reduced by 6-8 points with strapping and lining on both sides of a concrete/masonry wall unless bulk insulation is used in the cavity.
Specification & Substitution: Autex specification documents are available through Masterspec® or can be downloaded from the manufacturers website www.autex.com.au
